About Glow Horse
Glow Horse Learning shoots for the stars, but not from the hip.
Research is in our DNA.

Glow Horse's award-winning curricula anchors in academic research from the fields of composition and rhetoric theory and praxis, education, and sociology, and Glow Horse's pedagogic methods all respond to current studies and articles magnifying the current needs for effective critical thinking and creative problem-solving curricula, accessible methods for creating discussion questions, regenerative responses to the crises of burnout among educators and students alike, practices for imagination cultivation in a digital age, and nutritive professional development in a post-pandemic world.
From comp/rhet scholarship, Glow Horse works with the respective writing pedagogy philosophies of Peter Elbow and Sondra Perl, as well as the Greco-Roman argument structuring method of "stasis theory." Thus, simulating a kind of "writing pilates" via aerobic drafting endurance, intensive revision processing, and original thought strength training, Glow Horse's outcome is a suite of sustainable, effective, creative practices for teaching and learning writing and critical thinking and a full toolbelt of enduring, transferrable skills. In brief, Glow Horse bridges academic centuries and university specializations in order to bridge the gaps between middle and high school classrooms, readiness levels, post-secondary learning, and early career positioning.

About Me

My name is Dr. M.K. Foster, and I love teaching.
I am a writer, monster scholar, historian of science, and public storyteller for Birmingham, Alabama, but I am first and foremost an educator with a passion for teaching that runs through all my projects. You can learn more about my story on my website, but the story of Glow Horse Learning grows out of my BA from Birmingham-Southern College, MFA from the University of Maryland, PhD from the University of Alabama, and collegiate and community teaching positions in my career. In brief, Glow Horse lives at the center of the learning and experience I have gathered as a scholar, educator, and creator.
Since 2012, I have had the joy of teaching academic writing, creative writing, literature, critical storytelling, history, digital humanities, rhetoric, games, and video essay classes in colleges and universities, and across the years, I have channeled my commitment to teaching in order to invent my own award-winning creative-critical curricula for teaching hundreds of lessons on writing, creativity, critical thinking, inquiry, research, storytelling, and cultural dialogue to thousands of students.

Now, it's time to share.

Driven by my fiery love for teaching, I have founded Glow Horse as a learning company dedicated to empowering and supporting middle and high school teachers, and with an educators-first directive, Glow Horse aims to coach, develop, and distribute accessible, effective curricula to meet a wide range of needs for teaching critical thinking, writing, analysis, and current cultural conversation.
